Thank you for your ongoing support of the Rescue Mission for Children. This is the Sixth of a regular newsletter to keep you informed of what’s happening at the Centre. Each newsletter I will share a little of the journey one child has had before they joined us. It has been more than 3 months of schooling for the children at the Akha Academy and they are well and truly enjoying their learning at school. This is the first time for most children to ever go to school and have the real understanding of what every child must have, education to determine their own future. On Tuesday, most of the children were chosen to go to the 2014 Annual Academic Championship and some of the children won the competition. The children are all so eager to get up every morning and get all of the chores ready so that they can go to school and learn with smiles on their faces as they get in the truck to go to school.
Feature Child
Mary (Pornsawan) is 9 years girl that has been with us from the beginning. She is the eldest daughter of Dang and Abusah. The family has served the Akha Academy for 14 years. Mary is studying grade 4 this year, truly blessed with wisdom. Mary is the most detailed person who is extremely responsible for a 9 years old child. She takes care of her siblings needs, doing all of the household chores. Mary is so caring and a cheerful giver, she is the most obedient child you could ever come across.
Feature Staff Member
Amporn has been working at the Akha Academy for over 18 years since the original day of rescuing children off the street on a daily basis. Amporn has seen so many lives ended with death through child sex slavery and this is why she so strongly supports rescuing children who are at risk and vulnerable. Amporn was the first manager of the Academy for the first 7 years of the Academy. Today Amporn is no longer at the Akha Academy as full-time staff member, but Amporn is a strong supporter and donor for the children at the Academy. Today Amporn is a farmer and she donates most of her fruit produced to the academy for the children.
Thank you for your prayers, love and ongoing support.
