New water filtration and a new roof!

download

We now have a new water filtration system at the Rescue Mission for Children Academy. It has been over 2 years since the last change. This is a vital part of the Akha Academy’s operation as we depend on the creek water supply which shared with the farmers. The water stream is full of farming chemicals which is extremely harmful to both humans and animals. Through your help and support, we now have clean water to drink and use.

We have also replaced the roof frame and thatch roof sheets for the volunteer dining room at the Academy. The old thatch roof sheets were more than 3 years old and were completely worn out. So through your support, we now have clean water to drink and use, and a new roof for the volunteer dining room. This is all good news.

Feature Child

Rakweeporn (Robyn), is 6 years old who has been with us from the beginning. Robyn is the third daughter of Abusah and Dang who look after the children at the centre.Robyn is assigned for the rubbish collecting chores at the RM4C Academy. She does this every morning and afternoon, before and after school. She has a few children in her team, that go around the whole property and pick up any rubbish that is lying around. Robyn is quite tiny, but she is such a strong little girl and very capable of leading the her young team.

About Robyn’s Parents

Abusah and Dang were teenagers when they met at the centre, later married and have 5 girls. They all live at the centre full time now. They have much local knowledge and are very important to the running of the centre especially when Asa, the Manager, is not there. Their English is good and are in charge of all medical issues such as clinic visits etc as the need arises. We are blessed to have them at the academy to assist in the care of the children.

Fellowship with another

We shared a beautiful Sunday morning with our brother, Pastor Yesue Chermue, learning a new Akha worship song. It was fun and easy and the children loved it. Later on he took us to the book of John, telling us that:“the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning”.

To see the children realising that the Word was so important, and gaining wisdom and knowledge, was a fulfilment of the day in my heart. We had a great time of fellowship.

Thank you for your prayers, love and ongoing support.

News from Rescue Mission for Children Inc. (RM4C) Committee – Australia

We are very pleased to hear that the water filter system has been replaced ensuring the health and welfare of everyone at the Academy. Also, the Volunteer’s dining room roofing being upgraded is timely, in preparation for a number of visitors to the Academy in the near future.

Importantly, the Committee is finally seeing the start of working through the many projects on our lists. This is an area aside of the ongoing running costs of the centre.

While the projects on the website are prioritised, there are still a number of little projects that only need someone handy with a paint brush or two!

A couple of fundraising events are coming up, which will go a long way towards our budget target and ongoing projects. Namely a food drive in our local church and will run for 4 weeks culmination the week before Easter.

Check out our website: rescuemissionforchildren.org.au for more details about the organisation.

We wish our readers, sponsors and doners a Happy and Holy Easter.

Your Australian Committee.
