welcome to the world Nattawut!

Congratulations to our house parents Ader and Ager on the birth of their beautiful little boy! Nattawut is a healthy and settled baby boy, who came as quite a surprise to his mummy and daddy who were told to expect a little girl! Nattawut is already adored by his two big brothers Tawaii and Teerawat, as well as his larger family at the Rescue Mission for Children.

BACK TO SCHOOL

The school year has officially started and we have 51 children dressed in uniforms, and ready to learn!

Namoo (photo on left) is our youngest little girl starting school this year and she is super excited to be starting preschool. We have sixteen preschoolers this year, many are older students beginning a new journey and all of them love going to school with their friends. The other children at  Rescue Mission help them practice their reading and writing and they are very proud to show off their new achievements!

Host a PJ Party!

Do you love your warm winter pyjamas? There is nothing better than wearing cosy PJ's and slippers on a chilly night! Why not invite your friends over for a PJ party for a great cause?! Its a perfect excuse to catch up with friends and relax while being completely cosy and comfortable. Ask everyone you invite to bring along a pair of children's pyjamas that we can take over to Thailand for the Rescue Mission children in time for their winter. Our children love wearing their flannelette PJs in winter, even throughout the day to keep warm and cosy. It gets quite cold in the mountainous Chiang Rai province especially at night. During the months of June and July we are collecting donations of PJs and underwear for our 51 children. New & good-quality recycled PJs are appreciated, for boys and girls, sizes 4 - 16.

So far this June, Paola Hopkinson-Smith hosted a wine and cheese PJ party and Alissa Miller hosted a dessert night PJ party. Each collected donations of cute and cosy PJ's. We would love to hear about your own PJ parties - email us your stories and photos to secretary@rescuemissionforchildren.org.au

We can also organise collection of your pyjamas.

Introducing Meetum
Meetum is a 6 year old girl from Myanmar. She arrived at the Rescue Mission with her big brother Satheypa last month. Meetum's single father has a drug addiction, so her family was living under a plastic cover and scavenging for food.

Meetum has settled in extremely well at the Rescue Mission, and already has many friends. She is a little extrovert who loves talking and singing. Her favourite subject at school is music and she apparently loves to show off her talent for singing. She also loves cats, and is very excited to be able to play with the pet cats at the Rescue Mission.

Meetum loves having regular meals at the Rescue Mission and her favourite food is noodles. We look forward to seeing Meetum grow and thrive now that she has a safe home, good food, schooling and lots of love and care.

a new season for paul and dee

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Paul and Dee Evans will be stepping down as our on-site managers. We are so grateful for the time they have invested in the children and around the grounds of the Rescue Mission for Children. In two years they have built an innovative horticulture system for vegetable production, established two orchards, and taught sustainable agriculture and English. Their hard work helped make it possible for us to double the number of children in our care.

Paul and Dee now feel called to work with hill tribe communities in Northern Thailand to develop an Avocado Industry. They will be working with leaders from hill tribe villages, Provincial Mayors, and Thai and International Anti-Slavery networks with the vision of helping to address generational poverty.

Whilst we are sad to see them go, we know that God has set an incredible path before them and we look forward to hearing about the amazing work they will be doing in the agricultural sector. Paul and Dee will remain connected to the Rescue Mission for Children and will keep visiting the children and showering them with love.

On behalf of the Board, volunteers, supporters and the children, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts Paul and Dee for all that you have done for the Rescue Mission for Children.

please help us through your E.O.F.Y giving

With the end of the 2017-2018 fiscal year fast approaching, now is a perfect time to consider making a charitable donation to support the life-changing work of Rescue Mission for Children.

Giving to charity at the End Of Financial Year is not only a chance to make a difference; it’s also an excellent way to reduce your tax burden for the year through either personal or corporate donations. You can claim a tax deduction on any financial gift to a registered non profit organisation such as RMFC. Donate before June 30th and we will send you a receipt so you can claim it on this year's tax return.

This year we have an exciting way for you to give meaningfully and practically, by providing the essential bedding, school uniforms and health and hygiene provisions that our new children urgently need. $50 can provide so much for a child at the Rescue Mission for Children.

$50 School Uniform Pack provides a child with:

  • School skirt or shorts, School Shirt, School shoes, Sneakers, Socks and School Backpack

$50 Bedding Pack provides a child with;

  • Mosquito Net, Sheets and blankets, Pillow, Mattress protector, Towel

$50 Health and Hygiene Pack provides a child with;

  • Immunisations, Medical and Dental check ups and treatment, Worming and Lice treatments, Toothbrush and Toothpaste
